Conference of the Birds Ceramic Mural
A monumental ceramic mural installation in Isfahan inspired by The Conference of the Birds, transforming the façade of the Farzangan Building into a large-scale expression of Persian art, culture, and symbolism.
Introduction
Commissioned by the University of Technology of Isfahan, this large-scale ceramic mural installation was conceptualized and led by Soroush Payandeh as a public art project inspired by Attar’s timeless literary masterpiece, The Conference of the Birds.
The project was designed to transform the building façade into a meaningful cultural statement that merges storytelling, symbolism, and architectural expression through handcrafted ceramic art.

The project required extensive artistic coordination, technical precision, and long-term execution to achieve its monumental scale and intricate handcrafted detail.
Created over an 18-month period with more than 1,800 custom clay tiles, the murals were developed through close collaboration between artists and craftsmen, resulting in one of the largest and most technically ambitious ceramic mural installations of its kind.
