MRI Room

An immersive MRI room design inspired by The Conference of the Birds, transforming a clinical environment into a calming and emotionally supportive healing experience through art and acoustic innovation.

Introduction

Designed for the Advanced Neurodiagnostic Center in New Orleans, this MRI room was conceptualized by Soroush Payandeh in collaboration with Philips, inspired by Attar’s The Conference of the Birds and its symbolic journey through healing and transformation.

The project was created to redefine the patient experience by combining artistic storytelling, advanced materials, and sensory comfort within a highly technical medical environment.

The challenge was to integrate meaningful artistic expression with the strict technical and functional requirements of a medical imaging space.

Through custom laser-cut plexiglass panels, integrated acoustic solutions, and symbolic visual elements, the final design reduces stress and external noise while creating a peaceful atmosphere that supports emotional well-being during MRI procedures.
